Shuyi Chen (陈淑仪) is a thoughtful clinician who believes therapy can be a space for individuals to explore, feel, and perhaps find their own answers. She approaches each person with curiosity, respect, and openness, recognizing that everyone encounters life’s challenges differently and has their own way of understanding and making meaning of their experiences. Through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, she seeks to create a space where individuals feel supported in exploring themselves and move toward a fuller, more authentic way of being.
Shuyi earned her BS in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her MS in Social Work from Columbia University. Her work draws from a range of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Shuyi specializes in working with addiction/substance use, trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, identity/self-esteem concerns, and cultural and ethnic issues, and she offers psychotherapy in English and Mandarin Chinese.
